Leaving... on a jet plane

Dont know when I'll be back again... to Sweden that is...
Fly out to London in 7 hours.
It has been a very tiring trip, and I still have two stops left.
France midweek, and hopefully Edinborough for a day trip...
We visited Skansen yesterday, the open air museum... its claim to fame being that it holds "everything swedish" from present and past...
Houses from all around sweden have been done up to suit their period, and also their situation.
Traditional swedish crafts are found, made and sold there, in shops.
And there is a zoo with Elk, Brown bears, foxes, wolves, wolverines etc... all traditional animals found in Sweden...
And for those who havent seen one... Elk are FRIGGIN HUGE!!!
Stephan said on the way to the Skansen, that they are like a big horse.... BULLSHIT!!! They are like friggin Reindeer on steroids!!!! Its like comparing David Driscoll and Damien, and saying Damien is huge!!!!
They are really really really big, really really tall.... about 7 foot tall... and 4 foot wide.... like a really big reindeer....
Anyway, after that we went to Vasamuseet.. (The Vasa Museum)
The Vasa is a massive, fully preserved viking ship!!!
It was AWESOME!! The highlight of my trip to Sweden...
I took heaps of photos, but they seriously just dont do it justice....
I will bore you all with them anyway tho!!! hehehe
So we are already saying our goodbyes, as the two eldest children have school and preschool today.
They are gone, and only Stephan and Victor are left.
We said goodbye to Karin last night, hopefully she will get to come home early and say goodbye again, but it is likely that we will not see her again before we go, which is very sad : (
So I must also go, I dont know when I will be able to post again... I have been spoilt having a computer so close at hand that works!!! lol

Swedish Fun

Hello from Sweden ...
We had dinner with Stephans sister Helene, on Monday night, her husband Mats cooked for us, a very traditional Swedish meal, cucumber salad, greens, potatoes, brown sauce, and ELK rissoles!! they were sooooo good!! On the side were little red berries that you can only pick in Sweden, they were very tart and tasted great with the meat.
For dessert we had a cheese cake, which was almost a baked rice pudding, traditional in the south of Sweden, and also very good!! We had cloudberries with the dessert, and they are also only found in forests of Sweden, and were delicious.
It was so nice to see Helene, Mats, Emil and Anton again, and I made sure to extend the welcome to Anton and Emil, that when they are old enough, and wish to travel the world, they are more then welcome to use my house as a home base... (Sorry babe... had to be done...)
Yesterday we went to see the old town with Stephans mum, Marianne, very small streets, some of the narrowest you have ever seen... big enough for one person only..
All the buildings are really old here, and Lauren says it reminds her alot of Italy.
The shops are lovely, some are almost as complicated as the streets inside!!
We also went to the history museum, to the Viking exhibition, it was pretty amazing, and interesting to think that Sweden is founded from alot their beliefs...Got lots of photos of artifacts, skeletons and swords (although, prob not as many as Glen would have liked...)
The last place we went to was the kings castle (the place he works... not his residence... cos he has TWO castles... hahaha)
Outside were guards all over the place... very cute men in uniform, very serious tho... all dressed up and so cross looking...
Lauren and I decided we wanted photos of the cross guards (so serious...) and proceeded to giggle and laugh while taking photos... poor young guard... I think he was a bit overwhelmed... I got a lovely photo of him with a big grin on his face : )
Anyway... today we are going to the kings castle... (residence this time..) and shopping with Stephan... we are going to try and buy as many unfamiliar items as possible to eat : ) (including chocolates... mmmm... never fear Helen... for every chocolate I have tried, I have purchased you its double... hehehe, Im not a huge choc eater tho, so there is only around 5-6 bars...)
Better go, hogging the computer again.

SWEDEN!!

ok, so it was a beautiful trip over... out of the plane window was mountains and snow...
as we headed towards Sweden, we could see large bodies of water everywhere... all partially frozen due to the cold.
After Stephan picked us up we drove through the country side till we reached the outskirts of Stockholm, where they live, in a suburb.
As we drove in a deer crossed our paths... Stephan slowed down for us to get a look.. and low and behold... there was FOUR of them... wandering around like they owned the place...
I was shocked... I knew deer were native... but even Kangaroos arent that game!!!
Karin says they enter her yard in spring and eat the heads off all the flowers!!!
Karin and Stephan are lovely people, and their kids are gorgeous..
This morning they headed out into minus four degree weather... ÖMG!!!
It was very cute, Victor, their one yr old looked like a little blue marshmallow.
We sat up and had a few drinks last night and a chat about what we want to do whilst here...
Shopping was at the forefront of both mine and my sisters minds... lucky for us... Karin being female.. it was also at the forefront of hers... lmao.
We are going to the largest Ikea today, with large shopping outlets that we are assured to get a bargain!!
Stephan is also going to attempt to get us over to the viking settlement here... although he feels that it may not open till summer, and we will be shit out of luck... : (
I am going into work with Stephan tomorrow, as lucky for me, his boss is a huge art collector!!!
There is art all over his work space, including Matisse, Picasso, and 2 Warhol prints!! HEAVEN!!
The one downside to travelling is that I am finding that I am out of whack every time I wake up in a different time zone... lmao...
Today I am 2 hours early... Loz is having no trouble tho, and is right now quite happily snoring away....
Well...
Thats all for now...
So will talk again soon.
