Swedish Fun

Hello from Sweden ...
We had dinner with Stephans sister Helene, on Monday night, her husband Mats cooked for us, a very traditional Swedish meal, cucumber salad, greens, potatoes, brown sauce, and ELK rissoles!! they were sooooo good!! On the side were little red berries that you can only pick in Sweden, they were very tart and tasted great with the meat.
For dessert we had a cheese cake, which was almost a baked rice pudding, traditional in the south of Sweden, and also very good!! We had cloudberries with the dessert, and they are also only found in forests of Sweden, and were delicious.
It was so nice to see Helene, Mats, Emil and Anton again, and I made sure to extend the welcome to Anton and Emil, that when they are old enough, and wish to travel the world, they are more then welcome to use my house as a home base... (Sorry babe... had to be done...)
Yesterday we went to see the old town with Stephans mum, Marianne, very small streets, some of the narrowest you have ever seen... big enough for one person only..
All the buildings are really old here, and Lauren says it reminds her alot of Italy.
The shops are lovely, some are almost as complicated as the streets inside!!
We also went to the history museum, to the Viking exhibition, it was pretty amazing, and interesting to think that Sweden is founded from alot their beliefs...Got lots of photos of artifacts, skeletons and swords (although, prob not as many as Glen would have liked...)
The last place we went to was the kings castle (the place he works... not his residence... cos he has TWO castles... hahaha)
Outside were guards all over the place... very cute men in uniform, very serious tho... all dressed up and so cross looking...
Lauren and I decided we wanted photos of the cross guards (so serious...) and proceeded to giggle and laugh while taking photos... poor young guard... I think he was a bit overwhelmed... I got a lovely photo of him with a big grin on his face : )
Anyway... today we are going to the kings castle... (residence this time..) and shopping with Stephan... we are going to try and buy as many unfamiliar items as possible to eat : ) (including chocolates... mmmm... never fear Helen... for every chocolate I have tried, I have purchased you its double... hehehe, Im not a huge choc eater tho, so there is only around 5-6 bars...)
Better go, hogging the computer again.
